Question: Can you lower an 03 honda civic with 18 inch rims?

Are you allowed to lower a 2003 Honda Civic LX with 18 inch rims or are the rims too big and it could be bothered by the sides? I want to lower the car an inch or two but I'm not sure if the rim size will be a problem I believe my tires are 8 1/ 2 inches wide.

Yes it will perfectly fit your civic. Trust me. The most important thing to remember in buying the rims is to choose the proper offset to avoid rubbing in your fender. Lowering it by an inch or two will not affect it. 18 inch is just a perfect size for a civic. Your car will be a standout. Hope this helps!

Yes, you will need to get your fenders rolled so that tires don't hit.

The diameter of the wheel shouldn't matter as much because you are supposed to put a lower profile tire on it to keep the diameter of the tire stock. What matters when you are working with wheel clearance is wheel width. I could probably go from a 15 " on my car to a 20 " wheel no problem but I probably couldn't go from a 15x6 to a 20x12 but I could probably squeeze a 20x8 no problem.

In theory an inch or two shouldn't be too much of an issue, i have 17'' on my 98 civic ek and have lowered it 3 inches and don't have issues, the arches on a 2003 model should be bigger.on the other hand if you are using springs however than i wouldn't recommend going as big as 18'', as the springs, unlike coilovers, will have give and sag in them and when you hit bumps the wheels could come into contact with the arches, you can 'scoop' the arches out though. If you lower i can almost guarantee your front wheels will rub the inside of the bumper on full steering lock, its the width rather than diameter that will cause issues, 18 inch will have either a 205, 215 or higher width, 18inch start at 205/ ??/ r18. my advice would be to go for 17 inch or smaller if you are looking to lower. ps. if you go for 17 inch or higher make sure you get the tracking and alignment adjusted as lowering and up-sizing wheels will put it out.
