Question: Can 18 inch tires on a civic 02 afftect the transmission?

As long as the overall diameter of the tire stays within 2-1/ 2% of original then you have no problem and the car hasn't been lowered. This means using lower profile tires.

I'm not a mechanic, but tire size does not affect your car's transmission. I do know that installing bigger tires on any vehicle will affect your gas milage, speedomiter reading and could affect you breaking ability; depending on the size of the tire and rim. I would highly recomend upgrading your breaks and rotors. Larger tires and wheels equal larger roating mass which will increase your stopping distance. An increase in your stopping distance could lead to an accident.

Definitely . the axel is not make 4 it .If u got the money change the axel also but 4 that u'll hav fresh problems

Well seeing as how i doubt these are racing 18s and there is a weight reduction, you have to remember that your adding the worst kind of weight with heavy wheels, un sprung. This extra weight spinning at the end of the hub has detremental effects on all related components, ball joints, wheel bearings and studs, and most certainly cv axles and transmissions. Sorry if this ruined your day, but if you want to minimize the wear on your car I would go with a stock sized wheel and tire choice that is significantly lighter then your OEM ones.
