18 Inch Tire Homepage

Question: Is it ok to have 18 inch tires on the back of your car and 17's upfront?

I have two 18 inch tires both same size on the rear and two 17's up front both same size...only on cause i havent gotton around to putting 18 upfront yet...is this ok? the car is a 2001 eclipse gt v6 fwd

Yes it makes a difference. you have changed the overall stance of your car which directly effects the handling. there are so many things to consider here. if you can baby the car till you get the new wheels up front that shouldnt hurt. but any kind of extreme usage might yield results you may not be happy with! cornering will be off, speedo will be off, steering will be off, weight transitioning will be off. dont forget to check the rub when the tires turn left and right! did ya check the backspacing? overall tire height and width? doing this to a rear wheel drive car is bad enuf and you see it on drag cars alot but they only really go straight line. doing it to a fwd, well, just dont take the long way home till shes fixed!

Makes no difference,, however, it might effect your antilock brakes. I would call a mitsu dealer and ask a mechanic.

It shouldn't make much difference. You could try getting wider tires for the 17's to raise it up to the same height as the 18's.
